Job Details

Essential responsibilities: Modernize the CICS online environment to meet the challenge of fast changing business demands.

 

- Keeps abreast of latest software and techniques related Web and IP. Makes recommendations using the new technologies to enhance and modernize the CICS online systems.

- Implements selected technologies to Web enable CICS applications.

- Explore and recommend new technologies to interface with other platforms for data synchronization and information exchange.

- Implement the selected technologies to effectively interface with other platforms.

- Explore existing CICS features for opportunity to enhance the online environment. Implement required changes to utilize these features.

- Explore existing CICS OEM software and utilities for functions that can benefit the client and implement these functions.

- Assist Project Leader in planning, scheduling and managing projects that introduce new technology and features.

- Other duties as assigned.

 

. Maintain an optimal CICS online environment to ensure adequate support to the business:

 

- Timely upgrade CICS and OEM software to ensure the software are up to date.

- Plan, schedule and manage all upgrade projects.

- Perform required day to day maintenance of the CICS regions.

- Build and configure new regions when necessary.

- Tune CICS online systems for peak performance.

- Resolve CICS system problems and apply fixes.

- Assist application team to resolve application related CICS issues.

- Provide technical advices to Operation

- Monitor the performance of the CICS environment and take proactive actions to avert potential problems.

- Develop and implement recovery strategy to ensure data integrity in the CICS online environment. This includes both data corruptions due to application and data lost due to disaster situation.

- Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications & Knowledge:

. Bachelor's degree or minimum seven to ten years experience in MIS system with an emphasis on CICS online system

. In depth knowledge of CICS internals.

. Working knowledge of CICS web enabling techniques and their implementations, Client Server interface into CICS, such as

COMTI, Web services call, Hostbridge, MQ etc.

. Working knowledge of TCPIP functions, such as FTP, TELNET.

. Knowledge of mainframe web application such as Host on Demand.

. Working Knowledge of UNIX System Services and JAVA.

. Working knowledge of OEM software products that supports the operation of CICS online environment, such as CICS/EXPEDITOR, Intertest, Abendaid, TMONCICS, Journal Forward Recovery software and performance tuning and capacity planning for CICS online systems.

. Working knowledge of VSAM, IAM and DB2 file structure.
